Despite speculation surrounding a potential surprise appearance by Justin Bieber at Usher’s Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show, the anticipated moment never materialized. Usher has now shed light on why Bieber opted not to participate.
During an interview with “The Breakfast Club,” Usher revealed that he had reached out to Bieber, among others, but the singer declined the invitation. “I honor and recognize the fact that my brother… I think it might have just been that he’s just wanting to tell a different story right now, and I did understand that,” Usher explained. “We did have a brief conversation, and we’re gonna do something else in the future.”
Usher emphasized that there’s no animosity between them, acknowledging the pressure associated with the Super Bowl performance. He had approached multiple artists about participating, and while Bieber declined this time, Usher hinted that there might be opportunities in the future.
Bieber’s decision comes after a period of prioritizing his health, particularly evident when his “Justice” world tour was canceled in 2022. Despite this, Usher remains confident in Bieber’s talent and predicts that he will eventually perform at the Super Bowl. “He’s going to play the Super Bowl… I’ll go ahead and give you that for the future. I profess that over his life because he has a career that deserves it. It just didn’t happen, but that doesn’t mean it’s not going to,” Usher asserted.
