In the Boston Celtics’ recent victory over the Dallas Mavericks, Jaylen Brown showcased his exceptional skills with a jaw-dropping crossover move that left Mavericks’ star Luka Doncic stumbling. However, the aftermath of the play led to an awkward situation in the Mavericks’ arena.
The American Airlines Center’s Jumbotron operator displayed a replay of Doncic’s defensive mishap to the sellout crowd, drawing reactions from Mavericks players Tim Hardaway Jr. and Markieff Morris. Both players expressed their dissatisfaction with the home arena highlighting a moment that showcased one of their own in a challenging position.
Even Jaylen Brown, who executed the impressive crossover, found it surprising that the play made its way onto the Mavericks’ Jumbotron. When asked about it, Brown remarked, “Here? Nah, I didn’t notice that. That’s crazy. Somebody needs to get fired if they did that. That’s crazy.”
Despite the individual success and the highlight-reel moment, Brown remained humble and refrained from adding to Doncic’s embarrassment. Brown had a stellar performance in the game, scoring 34 points and effectively defending against Doncic’s attempts.
In response to the incident, Brown acknowledged the nature of basketball, emphasizing that intense moments happen on the court. He credited Doncic for attempting to play defense but highlighted the aggression in his own play. Brown also acknowledged the unpredictability of being on either side of such situations during a game.
Luka Doncic, on the other hand, took a sportsmanlike approach, admitting that Brown’s crossover was impressive. Despite hoping that Brown would miss the shot, Doncic gracefully acknowledged the skill displayed by his opponent.
