As the awards season continues, the People’s Choice Awards are set to take place on Sunday, Feb. 18 at Santa Monica’s Barker Hanger.
The two-hour telecast will begin at 8 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on NBC and E!. However, for those without cable, the entire awards show can be streamed live online through Peacock. Additionally, various live TV streaming services like Sling TV and DirecTV Stream, which offer free trials, also provide access to the event.
Simu Liu, previously a People’s Choice Award winner in the action movie star category for his role in “Shang-Chi,” will host this year’s ceremony. He’s also nominated this year for his performance as one of the Kens in “Barbie.” Greta Gerwig’s summer blockbuster “Barbie” has also received nominations for “Movie of the Year” and “Comedy Movie of the Year.”
According to Liu, the PCAs stand out for their unique voting process, which allows fans to vote online or via their phones. He emphasized the inclusivity of the awards, contrasting them with other shows where votes are cast behind closed doors by an academy.
Nominated films for “Movie of the Year” include “Fast X,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” “Oppenheimer,” “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Film,” “The Little Mermaid,” and “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.”
Adam Sandler will also receive the People’s Icon Award, recognizing his comedic career and iconic roles in films like “Grown Ups,” “Happy Gilmore,” and “The Wedding Singer.”
To catch the 2024 People’s Choice Awards, tune in to Peacock for the live stream.
