In a Super Bowl ad released by Universal for David Leitch’s thriller “The Fall Guy,” Ryan Gosling’s character, a stuntman-bounty hunter named Colt Seavers, is revealed to be a fan of Taylor Swift. The trailer showcases various action sequences, including encounters with aliens and space cowboys. In one scene, Gosling is seen crying in his car while Swift’s song “All Too Well” plays in the background.
“Have you been crying to Taylor Swift?” asks Emily Blunt, to which Gosling responds, “Doesn’t everybody?”
The inclusion of Swift’s music in the Super Bowl ad likely references the NFL’s coverage of the pop star during the 2023 season. Swift has been spotted attending several NFL games to support her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Her presence at the 2024 Super Bowl was a significant topic of pregame coverage on CBS Sports’ NFL.
Based on Glen A. Larson’s 1980s television series of the same name, “The Fall Guy” follows Gosling’s character Colt Seavers, who is on a mission to find a missing movie star he once doubled for. The film also features Blunt as Gosling’s ex-girlfriend Jody, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the missing star, and a supporting cast including Stephanie Hsu, Winston Duke, Hannah Waddingham, and Teresa Palmer.
Directed by David Leitch and written by Drew Pearce, “The Fall Guy” is produced by Leitch, Gosling, Kelly McCormick, and Guymon Casady for Universal Pictures and 87North Productions. Executive producers include Pearce, Larson, and Entertainment 360’s Geoff Shaevitz.
“The Fall Guy” is set to hit theaters on May 3.
