Fresh off her first-ever Grammy win for “Flowers,” Miley Cyrus delivered a spirited rendition of the chart-topping hit during the live broadcast.
Dancing across the stage in a Tina Turner-inspired fashion and clad in a dazzling silver dress, Cyrus didn’t hold back, questioning the enthusiasm of the Grammys audience mid-performance, asking, “Why are you acting like you don’t know this song?”
As she belted out the lyrics, the camera panned to audience members, including Oprah Winfrey, who enthusiastically joined in, singing along and pointing towards Cyrus.
Adding fresh adlibs towards the song’s conclusion, Cyrus traversed the Crypto.com Arena, celebrating her Grammy triumph with jubilant gestures.
Prior to her performance, Cyrus accepted the award for Best Pop Solo Performance, presented by Mariah Carey.
“This M.C. is standing by this M.C. because this moment is too iconic,” Cyrus remarked, acknowledging Carey’s presence. “Oh my god, I just braved the rain and traffic, fearing I’d miss this moment. Missing the award would’ve been okay, but missing Mariah Carey? Unthinkable! I just saw you at the Hollywood Bowl. It was unforgettable.”
Expressing the significance of her Grammy accolades after nearly two decades in the music industry, Cyrus shared a poignant anecdote during her acceptance speech.
“There was a little boy who wished for nothing but a butterfly for his birthday. His parents gifted him a butterfly net, and he eagerly went outside, hoping to catch one. Despite his efforts, he came up empty-handed. Finally, he surrendered, accepting that he wouldn’t capture the butterfly. It was then, when he let go, that the butterfly landed delicately on the tip of his nose. ‘Flowers’ is my butterfly. Thank you,” Cyrus reflected emotionally.
